People who call other people stupid.

 

Stupid-

 

“having or showing a great lack of intelligence or common sense.”

 

Stupid, to me, is an elusive concept.

 

We all have our strengths and our weaknesses. Some people have an eye for detail, some are artists, some are charismatic and good with people, and some are mechanically inclined.

 

There are all kinds of intelligences out there! And, usually, most people are “smart” at something.

 

But, there are always those people who go around calling everyone stupid.

 

“People are so stupid.” —–what does this mean?

 

I used to know this guy who would write daily on his facebook about the “stupidity of others.” This one particular guy had never been to college and (in my opinion) had never done anything impressive in his whole life. I thought… man… who are you to call someone else stupid? What have you done that’s so special? 

 

Now, while I don’t think going to college makes you smart, but I do think when you go to call someone else stupid—-you need to look in the mirror first.

 

Maybe, calling someone else stupid makes one feel “superior” or “smart” for a second.

 

“Oh, look at that person being stupid! I would never do that because I’m ‘smart.’”

 

But, does pointing out another’s “stupidity” make you smart?—-I don’t think so.

 

Then, there are those who call others stupid anytime someone disagrees.

 

I believe that REAL intelligent people can disagree, have a conversation about it, and consider each other’s viewpoints. I believe REAL intelligent people can see the world beyond their own perspective—-because let’s face it, we all have our own unique place where we stand and experience the world.

 

I think people who go around calling others stupid are usually people who miss the big picture. They can’t put themselves and see the world through another’s eyes. They only look their own and think that’s all there is. It’s not the stupidity of others but the short-sightedness of themselves.

Is the other person stupid, or are you just incapable of seeing beyond yourself? Because, believe me, none of us is the center of the world.
